Scrap buyer docked for stealing NPA’s compressor

A 52-year-old scrap buyer, Abdulraham Mohammed was arraigned on Tuesday before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one compressor belonging to Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges bothering on stealing brought against him.

The prosecuting counsel, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 4, 2017 at about 1pm in KLT Phase 1 after he broke into NPA’s office at the terminal. 

Sergeant Balogun added that the accused stole one compressor, with a yet-to-be-estimated value, property of NPA. 

According to him, the offences contravened sections 306 and 287 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety. 

He adjourned the case till October 4, 2017 for mention.
