Slew of bunker tankers arrested in Singapore

A slew of bunker tankers were arrested in Singapore over the weekend including one vessel on time charter to bankrupt OW Bunker.

The list of vessels arrested posted by the Singapore Supreme Court showed five bunker tankers were seized in the early hours of 15 November.

The vessels included the 5,766 dwt Nepamora, which is listed by OW Bunker as part of its time chartered fleet. The four other vessels were the Star Quest, Petro Asia, Luna and Zmaga, all of which appear on a list of Singapore bunker tankers published by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on its website.

In all cases the arresting solicitor was law firm Rajah & Tann.

Last week the bunker tanker Laguna was arrested in a claim by Hin Leong Trading against OW Bunker.

It sparked fears delivery vessels carrying unpaid OW Bunker cargoes could be targeted for arrest.
