Tanker driver in court for traffic offences

A 27-year-old tanker driver, Mohammed Musa was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly committing traffic offences.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 28, 2018 at 4:30am along Wharf Road by Area B Police Command.

Obongha said, “The defendant, being the driver in charge of an Iveco tanker with registration number KMC 270 YW drove same vehicle on a public highway in a dangerous and recklessness manner.”

The prosecutor added that Musa drove the same vehicle against traffic. According to him, the offence is punishable under section 4, section 20 Vol. 45 Lagos State Traffic Law 2012.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offense. 

Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety.

She adjourned the case till May 17, 2018 for mention.
