Tanker driver docked for stealing N3.9m petrol

A 36-year-old tanker driver, Rilwan Aliyu, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 50,000 litres of petrol worth N3.9 million.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbona told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 3, 2018 at about 10am at No 12, Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Coconut Bus-Stop, Apapa.

The prosecutor added that the stolen petroleum product belonged to Zamson Global Resource Limited.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail N500,000 with two responsible sureties each in like sum. One of the sureties must be a blood relation.

She adjourned the case till February 27, 2018 for mention.
