Technology critical to maritime industry growth, says NIMASA DG

Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dakuku Peterside, has stated that technology is an enabler required for the growth of the maritime industry.

He said this when members of the Lagos chapter of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) led by the President, Tope Aladenusi visited the agency.

Peterside said digital transformation strategy is one of the five medium term strategic growth plans to reposition the agency and the maritime industry for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

“If there is one enabler that will change the way we work, it is technology and we are prepared to maximize its use in repositioning the agency. That is why we welcome partnerships utilising technology that will be beneficial to the growth of the industry and the nation as a whole,” he said.

Leader of the ISACA delegation, Tope Aladenusi expressed the readiness of the body to partner with NIMASA in creating trust in the business technology environment, setting up standards and framework to aid regulatory oversight and training of NIMASA staff.
