A 19-year-old man, Lucky Ladi and a 34-year-old man, Aliu Balogun, were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing seven assorted phones worth N100,000 in Apapa.
Ladi and Balogun are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ferdinand Asu told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 28, 2019 at about 4am at White Sand area, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal seven assorted phones valued at N100,000 with N18,000 property of one Stephen Ayanwu,” Asu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 412 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate M.O Olubi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till February 27, 2019 for mention.
In a similar development, Ibrahim Rasheed (20) and Olayiwola Ibrahim (28) were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 20 assorted phones in Apapa.
Rasheed and Ibrahim are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ferdinand Asu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 20, 2019 at about 10am at No 13b, Commercial Road, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal 20 assorted phones valued at N150,000 property of one Abdulraman Saje,” Asu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate M.O Olubi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till February 13, 2015 for mention.
