Tony Iju Nwabunike

Tony Iju Nwabunike is the pioneer Chairman of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).

CRFFN, set up in 2007 through an Act of Parliament, is saddled with the responsiblity of regulating and professionalising freight forwarding practice in Nigeria.

Nwabunike said his task as pioneer Chairman of the freight forwarders’ regulatory body “was very difficult.”

“It was like a school where I learnt a whole lot of new things which made me believe that it is not easy to set up a new thing, most especially in a situation like freight forwarding in Nigeria where a council for the very first time was established,” he said.

Nwabunike is the Chief Executive of Iju Oil Services and CAAL Shipping Line Ltd and a board member of Inland Container Nigeria Limited (ICNL) – an inland container depot with operational base in Kano and Kaduna.

In 2011, he contested for the House of Representatives seat in Nnewi North/South and Ekwusigo federal constituency of Anambra State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost.

Nwabunike is former Chairman, Apapa Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and a former scribe of the association.
