Trailer crushes NPA worker at Tin-Can Port

Tragedy struck yesterday morning at the Tin-Can Island Port Complex (TCIPC), Apapa, Lagos, when an articulated truck crushed an elderly man, simply identified as Baba to death.
The deceased, according to eye-witnesses, was a victim of alleged recklessness by the truck driver, who was said to have been trying to evade extortion by security operatives at the TCIPC First Gate.
The deceased, referred to as Baba by his colleagues, was a waste manager, was clad in the lemon-coloured overall of Seaview Properties Limited (SPL), a subsidiary of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Baba was said to have met his demise while carrying out his duties of cleaning the side-walk along TCIPC First Gate stretch of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY saw the gory sight of the deceased crushed skull, the contents splattered beneath the front right tyre of the truck.
It was gathered that the truck driver fled the scene, following the accident.
