Truck driver in court for stealing tyres in Apapa

An Apapa Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 40-year-old truck driver, Usman Abdullahi, in prison custody, for allegedly stealing six complete tyres fixed with rims.

Abdullahi is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Tony Elibe, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 26, 2018 at about 12:30pm at Happy Home Avenue, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.

“The defendant, being a driver in charge of a truck with registration number DKD 142 XA, conspired with others, now at large, to steal six complete tyres fixed with rim valued at N810,000,” he said.

He said the offences were punishable under sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The Magistrate, Mukaila Fadeyi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety whose address must be verified with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till April 4, 2018 for mention.
