Two armed robbers namely, Habeeb Adebara (27) and Habeeb Salami (23), were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly attacking an importer by shooting him with gun and stealing the sum of N250,000 cash from him.

Adebara and Salami are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and unlawful possession of gun.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on December 8, 2018 at about 10pm at Itire Apasa, Amukoko, Apapa.

“The defendants unlawfully conspired together with others at large, unlawfully armed themselves with gun and attacked one Ibrahim Taofiq by shooting him with gun. They collected the sum of N250,000 cash from him,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 297 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Although the defendants pleaded not guilty, the Magistrate, Joy Ugbomoiko, rejected their plea and ordered that the case file be transferred to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice and adjourned the matter till January 30, 2019 for mention.
