Two wharf rats were arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court yesterday for having in their possession four counterfeit notes of N1,000.
They were Lafeef Hamza, 25 and Afeez Rauf, 20. Both pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge against them.
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 10, 2017 at about 8pm at Tin-Can Island Port, Apapa.
Esebamen said they had four counterfeit of N1,000 notes with No (1) P/5 913758 (2) P/5 913758 (3) P/5 913758 (4) P/5 913758 knowing same to be fake.
The offence contravened section 370 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.R Osho-Adebiyi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N150,000 with one surety each in like sum.
The case was adjourned till June 12, 2017 for mention.
