The commercial department of the United States Mission to Nigeria has commenced the registration and certification process of the annual Nigeria Maritime Expo (NIMAREX).
According to the outgoing commercial counselor of the mission, Mrs Rebecca Armand, when completed, the accreditation will enable American companies participate in the yearly event.
Armand also expressed confidence in the ability of Nigerian ship owners, adding that she will continue to work with them even in her new assignment under the Barack Obama administration in the United States.
Also speaking at the event, chairman of NISA Chief Isaac Jolapamo, commended Armand for supporting the aspirations of Nigerian ship owners.
NIMAREX was created by NISA in 2011 as a 3-day annual international exhibition and conference.
It was conceptualized to be the meeting point for players in the maritime industry in West Africa and as a forum to showcase products, new technologies, services, networking and unlocking real business opportunities in the Nigerian maritime industry.
The past three editions of the annual event has so far lived up to its billing as an international expo.
