54-year-old pleads guilty to stealing NPA’s barbed wire

A 54-year-old man, Joseph Iyitor was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing barbed wire belonging to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The port police prosecutor, Sergeant Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 30, 2017 at about 12:44pm in the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa.

Esebamen said Iyitor unlawfully entered the port without port pass and stole the barbed wire, which value was yet to be determined.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 398 (a)(b) and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused pleaded guilty to the two-count charges against him.

In her ruling, Magistrate Osho Adebiyi adjourned the case till December 11, 2017 for facts and sentence.
