8-year old girl dies after falling aboard cruise ship

An 8-year-old girl died following a fall while on board a Carnival Cruise Line’s ship, Carnival Glory, while the ship was docked at PortMiami on October 14.

As informed, the girl fell from a deck in the ship’s interior atrium to a lower deck. The cause of the fall is yet to be determined by the relevant authorities.

“The ship’s medical team responded immediately and the child was transported to the ship’s medical center. The ship’s command immediately contacted Miami Dade Police Department which was on site. She was subsequently transferred via ambulance to a local hospital where, tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.

“Our most heartfelt condolences are with the family at this very difficult time,” Carnival said in a statement.

The 2,974-passenger vessel has been handed over to the company by the authorities and its latest AIS data show that it has arrived in George Town, the Cayman Islands.
