Antwerpen Express becomes largest ship to call Canada

Antwerpen Express

Global Container Terminals (GCT) Canada last Frida welcomed Antwerpen Express, the largest container vessel to call the country at GCT Deltaport, located in the Port of Vancouver.

Owned by German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, the 13,200 TEU ship has been deployed in THE Alliance’s Transpacific mainline West Coast PN3 service.

The 142,295 gross ton boxship was built by South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in 2013.

GCT Deltaport is Antwerpen Express’s first-port-of-call directly from the Far East (Hong Kong-Yantian-Ningbo-Shanghai-Pusan-Vancouver).

Known as Canada’s flagship container terminal, GCT Deltaport handles large transpacific containerships and features a fleet of post-Panamax cranes.
