Are you satisfied with Nigerian government’s response to the Coronavirus disease?

The Nigerian government to a very large extent hasn’t really showed genuine preparedness towards COVID-19, which is now a global pandemic. I strongly believe the government isn’t creating awareness enough to educate the populace in the country. The global pandemic is currently the trending activities in the world. Likes of CNN, BBC are creating huge awareness as regards to what should be done to mitigate the spread. However, the Nigerian government only set up a committee to address the issue. I think this is not enough to curb the situation. We need serious and effective measures to handle the unforeseen breakout in the country. The best way to address the issue is with huge awareness to the public across the states; sanitizers should be readily available at a subsidized rate if possible. With this in place and other checks, I would give the government a level of confidence. Else I remain unsatisfied.

The Nigerian government response to the disease is nothing to write home about. First and foremost, as a nation we are unable to handle the outbreak because the health centres in the country are not equipped enough to tackle the virus and our government are not making any move on how to go about it. I think before now, our government should have done awareness on how to curtail the spread and make provisions for mask and sanitizers at our airports, general hospitals, ministries and other public places but nothing of such. I urged them to place a ban on Nigerians travelling out and anyone coming into the country even if is on business or whatsoever trip.

 

 

 

 

On the part of the government, their level of preparedness is not encouraging. Federal and State governments need to put all necessary facilities in place and I think they are not been sincerely open on the disease because they are not telling us the actual truth going on globally.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I feel the government is handling the disease outbreak with sense of urgency. The health ministry is really creating awareness on it every day and how citizens can take precautions but I feel they can do more especially at the market place because some people still believe the disease is not in Nigeria.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No I am not satisfied because as a country, we are not prepared and most of the information sent out is not genuine. False information circulates fast on social media before government debunks it. For me, it appears the Health Ministry is not properly equipped to tackle the virus. Also, I expected the government to have stopped foreigners and non-foreigners from coming into the country but that has not been done. Rather, we see people coming into the country even at this time when the virus is global. I want to urge the government to create awareness to ensure that people at the grassroots are adequately enlightened about the virus.

 

 

 

 

 

I am not satisfied at all. I even heard the Minister for Health denied the first case recorded in Nigeria. The government likes deceiving the populace and in the process, misguide a lot of people. Coronavirus is considered a deadly virus, which if not control and provide proper measures can lead to the spread of the virus in the country. Recall the first case in Nigeria, the question is how did the man gain access into Nigeria without proper check of the virus?  Other countries engage in proper check up for immigrants so as to prevent immigrants who may be carrying the virus to enter the country but reverse is the case in Nigeria. The conclusion is that we don’t value a single life in Nigeria and that is why it is observed that our government do not always find a long lasting solution to every challenges instead they only think about present and fast solution. Although, much has been said about the virus, I still think the government is not paying close attention to the airport because the countries where the foreigners are coming from will be happy to release anyone carrying the virus to take it to where ever they want to. It is now the responsibility of the government and officials at the airport to ensure proper check up on every one landing at the airport.

Yes the government is trying but they need to double up their effort to ensure that facilities are made available to monitor everyone that goes in and out of the international and local airports.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As far as I am concern, the government is trying because they have created a special place which serves as the hospital to tackle the menace. I feel they still need to do more by putting proper equipment in place in our various hospitals and places that is always crowded to curb the spread of the virus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No I am not satisfied because if care is not taken, the virus would spread throughout the nation. I noticed when the first case was confirmed in Lagos, the government were serious about it but if you watch it now they have relaxed on it. More centres for controlling and curbing this disease must be built which has to be well equipped because you will realize that some time ago, the Italian man who was quarantined nearly escaped because he complained about the heat temperature, lack of good facilities and so on. The earlier the government find a solution on how the virus can be curbed, the better for every one of us.

 

 

 

 

 

So far, I think I must commend the efforts of the Federal Government at the international airport but my fear now is that the virus have penetrated our neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Togo and Ghana. The problem we have now is to tighten up our security and adequate medical facilities must be put in place at our borders, majorly our land borders, hospitals, and market places. Also, foreigners need to be ban from coming into our country for now in order to curb the spread of the virus.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I give kudos to the government because they are trying all their best to curtail this disease. For instance, the government was able to get the man and the other passengers with him on the plane and they have been quarantined except the two that have not been found, which I know the government is hunting for them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well, in Africa we have never had a nation that has been responsive to emergencies as Nigeria. We were able to curtail Ebola in an unprecedented way and it was completely curbed and there was no spread. I would say the government is following suit because the first case which happens to be the man that came from Italy has be quarantined and also the government is trying its best to ensure that everyone onboard the plane is contacted and quarantined. As far as I am concerned, no nation in the world has been able to contain it as Nigeria. The Nigerian government response to this virus should be copied by other countries of the world.

 

 

 

 

 

I will say the government is doing their best to curtail the virus. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has established a ‘coronavirus preparedness group’ that includes representatives from Port Health Services of the Federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholders and I heard they meet daily to review the situation globally, assess the risk of spread and improve on Nigeria’s level of preparedness based on new findings and insights. At the points of entry into the country, screening has been heightened, particularly for passengers coming from China. This includes temperature checks, specific questions on known symptoms of the virus and travel history. I know the government is doing a lot of research which the citizens do not know of to curb the virus. Also, I heard that the government has been focusing on strengthening our emergency coordination, surveillance, public health laboratory and risk communications capacities, all to get the country better prepared in the event of an outbreak of this virus.

 

I feel the government is doing all they can to control the virus. Also, I give kudos to the Lagos Ministry of Health because they are doing a tremendous job especially in identifying those that had contacts with the Italian man that came into the state. I urge the government to put more effort in place to locate Immigration officers, Custom officers and airline staffs who attended to the man at the airport.

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am not satisfied because I feel the government is not doing enough to curb the spread of this virus. I expect the government to have placed a ban on people coming into the country and also going out, until the spread of the virus has been totally curbed because if they don’t do this, the virus will spread all over the nation before we know it. Also, I urge the government to put proper equipment in place to treat patients that have been quarantined and also ensure that they are well taken care of. The government must stop all importation of anything from any country into Nigeria. We need to be at alert in the country; this case is beyond any leader in power because it affects everyone both rich and poor.
