Body of British Tech Entrepreneur Mike Lynch, Others Found After Yacht Tragedy

The body of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch was recovered by Italian divers, along with several others, after a violent storm struck his yacht off the Sicilian coast, killing at least seven people.

Lynch’s death was confirmed by Massimo Mariani, the prefect of Palermo, who also revealed that the remaining missing person is Lynch’s daughter, Hannah.

The yacht, which had anchored off the Sicilian coast early Monday, sank during a sudden downpour, resulting in the deaths of nine people, including Lynch, Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, his wife Judy, and Christopher J. Morvillo, a lawyer at Clifford Chance, and his wife Neda.

Rescue teams, involving deep-sea divers and helicopters, worked to reach the hull of the ship, which settled on its side on the seafloor.

The bodies recovered so far have been taken ashore and are at the disposal of prosecutors, who will conduct an investigative phase, including the recovery of the yacht.

The Italian prosecutors handling the case have faced criticism for their reluctance to share information with reporters, but have announced a news conference for Saturday to provide updates on the investigation.
