Africa Free Zones Association (AFZA), Chris Ndibe
The Executive Secretary, Africa Free Zones Association (AFZA), Chris Ndibe, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to revive and invest in the free zones sector as it is the fastest sector that will liberate Nigeria from the present economic recession.

Speaking to journalists recently in Abuja, he said countries, especially in West Africa, were doing very well and “what they are doing is not far from having Nigeria as their market for their free zones”.

He said Ghana had the highest number of free zones in Africa.

“The scheme we frustrated in Nigeria is booming in Ghana and that is the single factory zones,” he said.

Ndibe stressed that every effort should be made to revive the free zones sector because if anything was not done about it, the country would end up becoming a dumping ground in West Africa.

He said free zones sector was growing all over the world and also getting more scientific stressing that “one scheme that can turn around the country’s economy around other than oil is the free zone”.
