Captain docked for damaging Japaul’s dredger 
A 43-year-old boat Captain, Jessy Neson was arraigned on Monday before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly damaging the cabin of a dredger worth N10 million.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Olusegun Kokoye told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 24, 2017 at about 7am at Cardoso Jetty in Kirikiri Town.

Kokoye added that the Captain wilfully damaged the cabin of the dredger where it was anchored.

The dredger is a property of Japaul Oil and Maritime Service Plc.

He said the offence contravened Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge against him.

Magistrate Abiodun Etti granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

He ordered that the sureties must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till December 22, 2017 for mention.
