Clearing agents docked for assaulting colleague with soldiers

Two clearing agents, Tina Oladejo (32) and Obi Lucky (23), were on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly inviting soldiers to beat up their colleague at Apapa.

Oladejo and Lucky are facing a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and assault.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 30, 2018 at about 8:30pm at Odofin Street, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by inviting soldiers to beat up one Oziri Uche,” Obongha said.

The prosecutor added that the defendants unlawfully assaulted and inflicted injury on one Oziri Uche on his eye with a fist blow, which caused bodily harm.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

Upon the non-guilty of the defendants, the Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties, according to the Magistrate must be a blood relation to the defendants.

She adjourned the case till October 23, 2018 for trial.
