Fire erupted in a generator room of an Antigua and Barbuda-flagged container ship while it was docked at Port of Vancouver’s Fraser Surrey Docks on Sunday.
The fire started after the 2006-built Cap Blanche completed its unloading, and was quickly put out.
There have been no reported injuries or spills, and the damage to the 2,741 TEU boxship is said to be minimal.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed a team to investigate the cause of the accident.
The fire caused a temporary shutdown of the section of Fraser Surrey Docks. A spokesperson for the docks told the local media that a small fuel spill had caused the fire.
Cap Blanche is operated by Harmstorf Thomas Meier-Hedde of Germany, and is currently deployed on ANL’s WC USA Canada Australia NZ Tahiti Service.
