Customs destroys 2,800 bags of expired rice

The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said it seized a total of 600 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N10 million last Monday after destroying a total of over 2,800 bags of expired rice worth N49 million same day. 

In a press release issued by its spokesman, Selechang Taupyen and made available to SHIPS & PORTS DAILYthe command said it also seized a truck filled with 1,514 cartons of imported tin tomato worth N8 million on March 24, 2018.

Taupyen quoted the Controller of the command, Comptroller Mohammed Aliyu as saying that the seizure of smuggled items is now rampant with the government warehouse at Seme becoming almost filled up.
