Customs management on inspection visit commends Controller, WMC

Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG), Training and Staff Development, Onyebuchi Okoli has commended the Controller, Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Comptroller Yusuf Umar on the in-house training of officers on the use of AK-47 rifles.

Speaking last weekend when top management staff of the NCS on an inspection visit led by ACG Tariff and Trade, Grace Adeyemo visited the command, Okoli reminded the controller to forward the list of approved marine courses to the headquarters to enable the management assist in the training of marine officers in expectation of the sea-going vessel which she said will arrive the country soon.

The training she said will enable the officers man the vessel and curb smuggling activities on the high sea.

Speaking earlier, Adeyemo said the purpose of the visit was to remind the officers on the need to ensure zero tolerance for anti-smuggling activities on the waters.

While describing the Controller as a man of great reputation “known for turning things around for good”, Adeyemo commended the controller on the recent seizure of seven tons of scrap metals which was said to the first by the command since inception.

She urged the officers to support the controller in discharging his responsibilities.
