FG Declares Friday Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

The Federal Government has announced that Friday, 5 September 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

The declaration was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Extending warm felicitations to Muslims across the country and in the diaspora, the government urged adherents to embody the noble qualities exemplified by the Prophet, including peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.

The statement further encouraged all Nigerians, irrespective of faith, to use the occasion to pray for lasting peace, security, and stability in the nation. Citizens were also called upon to support ongoing government initiatives aimed at strengthening national unity and driving sustainable development.
