Guinea: 18 bodies recovered from shipwreck

The bodies of 18 persons of the 43 passengers who went missing after their boat sank off Guinea, have been recovered, according to official sources on Monday.
The accident happened on Friday at the port of Konta where the boat, carrying 61 people and several goods, sank after an engine breakdown during heavy storm.
The Guinean Prime Minister, Mohamed Fofana, who described the accident as “a true national tragedy” and several senior government officials visited the scene of the accident.
Fofana has scheduled an emergency meeting with port managers, the boat owners and security officials, during which strong measures aimed at ending boat mishaps, will be worked out.
According to him, the measures include steps to avoid overloading, as well as technical maintenance of boats.
