INSURANCE BENEFIT: ANLCA presents N1m cheques to 2 late members’ families

Succour came the way of families of late Prince Dominic Udegbe and Sir Ambrose Eke, two deceased members of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), as they were presented with cheques of N1 million each as insurance benefits by the Association.
The late Udegbe was, until his death, the Secretary of Anlca Tin-Can Island Chapter, while the late Eke was the Public Relations Officer of ANLCA Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Chapter.
Speaking at the brief ceremony at the ANLCA National Secretariat in Lagos yesterday, the ANLCA National President, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, said that the presentation of the cheques to the wives of the deceased members was in fulfillment of ANLCA’s promise to cushion the pains of bereaved families of members.
Shittu described the two late members as persons who served ANLCA well, and, therefore, deserved to be remembered.
He used the occasion to stress the importance of members living for, and not on, ANLCA.

He further lashed out at those he described as “godfathers”, who, according to him, were always bent at influencing the choice of leaders, especially at the chapter level, during elections, to install people they can manipulate for their selfish interest.
Shittu urged all members to resist the activities of these godfathers in order to move ANLCA forward.
The ANLCA National President said that the impending Board of Trustees (BoT) elections would be used as a test case to recruit committed and selfless leaders.
“We shall make sure that only the people who have the interest of the Association are elected to serve on the Board. We shall not allow godfatherism and tribalism to dictate the choice of our leaders again,” he said.
The Vice Chairman, ANLCA BoT, Aare Sanni Shittu, who stood in for the BoT Chairman, Chief Henry Njoku, later presented a cheque for N1 million each to the wives of the deceased members, Princess (Mrs.) Udegbe and Mrs. Lucy Eke.
Responding to the receipt of the cheque, Mrs. Udegbe thanked the ANLCA National President and the Association for the honour and love showered on the family of her late husband.
She promised to keep the company of her late husband going and remain a loyal ANLCA member.
On her part, Mrs. Eke expressed her pride in ANLCA and its leadership for the wonderful gesture.
She equally pledged to continue from where her late husband stopped in running the company, and also in the activities of ANLCA.
The ANLCA National President later decorated the two women with the lapel pin of ANLCA as members.
