A 32-year-old interior decorator, identified as Oyekomi Tobi, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N321,000 for visa procurement in Lagos.

Tobi is facing a two-count charge of false pretence and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 15, 2019 at about 12pm at Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendant obtained the sum of N321,000 from one Vivian Ezeigbo with the pretence to procure invitation/visa for her, knowing same to be false,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety.

The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till August 14, 2019 for mention.
