The Nigerian chapter of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA- Nigeria) has launched the second and third editions of its lecture series with theme Empowerment of Women in the Maritime Industry.
The books were launched last Thursday at Ikoyi, Lagos.
The WISTA Lecture Series Volume 2, which covers the period of 2008 to 2011, is a 74-page compilation of lectures on Leadership Attitude and Networking for Enhanced Productivity, Leadership Principles and Styles, Women Health Issues, among others.
The volume 3 of the series, a 118-page book, which covers the period of 2012 to 2013, touched on Leadership Opportunities for the Future, Career Paths in Shipping, Fundamentals and Practice of Licensed Customs Freight Forwarding Trade, Bank of Industry (BoI) Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) Group Appraisal Requirements and Guidelines for Co-operative Credit, among others.
President WISTA-Nigeria, Mrs. Jean Chiazor Anishere, said that the lecture series is in fulfillment of the organisation’s laudable ideals and mission statement in ensuring regular training and information sharing amongst its members.
Aside organising lectures and writing publications, WISTA-Nigeria, an umbrella organizstion of women engaged in shipping and trade-related businesses in Nigeria, aims at pursuing and championing sustainable projects to empower women in the nation’s maritime industry.
