The Lekki Deep Sea Port in Lagos has received two new pilot boats, PC Jalingo and PC Nadiya, delivered by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
These additions mark a significant enhancement in the port’s capabilities, aimed at optimising vessel navigation and overall operational safety.
According to Du Ruogang, Managing Director and CEO of Lekki Port, the arrival of the PC Jalingo and PC Nadiya will elevate the port’s operational excellence by enabling smooth and secure navigation for large vessels entering and exiting the port.
Ruogang emphasised that the new boats are a key component in expanding the port’s capacity to handle increased cargo traffic, thus supporting more efficient maritime operations.
The milestone underscores NPA’s dedication to meeting its commitments under the port’s concession agreement, Ruogang added.
Yang Xixiong, Operations Manager for Lekki Port, expressed enthusiasm about the port’s enhanced capabilities, calling the new vessels a step forward in positioning the port as West Africa’s premier gateway.
“With these boats, our pilots can better guide vessels of all sizes, improving safety in challenging weather and sea conditions. The expanded fleet also means quicker responses and more efficient vessel handling, allowing us to serve more ships in less time,” Xixiong stated.
