A 20-year-old man, identified as Yusuf Olanrewaju, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly breaking and entering a freight forwarder’s office in Apapa.
Olanrewaju is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyabosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 1, 2019 at about 11pm at No 47, Edidi Street, Amukoko, Apapa.
“The defendant broke and entered the office of one Ahmed Saheed and stole one Apple laptop valued at N140,000, one LG television valued at N80,000 and one typewriter valued at N30,000,” Onaiwu said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 307(c) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till January 28, 2019 for mention.
