A 25-year-old man, Solomon Obi, was arraigned on Wednesday before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting one Inspector Adenekan Oladimeji of the Nigeria Police attached to Tin-Can Division.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Alexander Esebamen told the court that the accused who resides at no 41, Owoduni Street, Amukoko, Lagos, committed the offences on November 12 at about 4:30am at Tin-Can 2nd Gate, Tin-Can Ports premises in Apapa.
Esebamen said the accused willfully obtructed one Inspector Adenekan Oladimeji while executing his lawful duty at his beat of posting.
He added that the accused willfully assaulted the police officer with a 17 spanner which caused him harm on his head.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 172 (b) and 171 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs Osho Adebiyi granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till December 4, 2017 for mention.
