Man in court for stealing dockworker’s motorcycle

A 27-year-old man, identified as Olamide Ogunkalu, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle belong to a dock worker, Patience Idikrere, at Apapa.

Ogunkalu is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 19, 2018 at about 9am at Agbe Street, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant stole one Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FKJ 231 QL valued at N220,000 property of one Patience Idikrere,” Perezi said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. 

Upon the non-guilty plea by the defendant, the Magistrate, O.A Erinle, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with six months bank statement and evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till January 16, 2019 for mention.
