Man docked in Apapa for allegedly stealing N.8m shuttle bus

A 28-year-old man, identified as Daniel Udoh, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a shuttle bus valued at N800,000 in Lagos.

Udoh is facing a two-count charge of stealing and fraud.

The prosecutor, Inspector Donjor Perezi told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in October 2018 at Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendant stole a shuttle bus with registration number KJA 31 XM valued at N800,000 property of one Enyinnaya Nwagbo,” Perezi said.

The prosecutor also said that the defendant fraudulently converted the sum of N800,000 from the proceeds of the shuttle bus to his own use.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government including six months’ bank statements.

She adjourned the matter till March 13, 2019 for mention.
