Man docked for stabbing motorboy over parking space

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 24-year-old man, Okemute Orighe was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing a motorboy over parking space at Mile 2 area of Lagos State.

Orighe is facing a one-count charge of assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 13, 2019 at about 10pm at Agofure Motor Park, Mile 2, Lagos.

“The defendant assaulted one Chukwu-weke Dumebi by using a broken bottle to stab him on his head and hand which caused him bodily harm,” Bassey said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.

Magistrate Iyabo Ayilara granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till September 3, 2019 for mention.
