A 25-year-old man identified as Christian Blessing Omoh was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a golden chain worth N170,000 in Apapa.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in August 2018 at Baale Ayetoro, Apapa.

“The defendant stole a golden chain valued at N170,000 property of one Mrs Nikky Aggey,” Inedu said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge bordering on stealing.

Magistrate M. Owumi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till May 7, 2019 for mention.
