Man docked for stealing two trailer batteries in Apapa

A 20-year-old man identified as Ayuba Suleman was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two trailer batteries worth N70,000 belonging to one Ikechukwu Emecheta in Apapa. 

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 21, 2019 at about 6am at Mile 2, Apapa. 

He said the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges of conspiracy and stealing. 

Magistrate T. R. Oladele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. 

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till May 8, 2019 for mention.
