Man in court for stealing 12 toners at NPA headquarters

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

23-year-old man, identified as Abdulkareem Afeez, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 12 toners at Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) headquarters in Lagos.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbona told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 12, 2018 at about 6am at NPA headquarters, Marina, Lagos.

Ogbona said the defendant stole eight pieces of Sharp toners, three pieces of HP toners and one Xerox computer toner property of NPA.

According to him, the offence contravenes Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till March 13, 2018 for mention.
