Man in court for stealing phone, cash

A 19-year-old man, Ogunyemi Olaoluwa, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing phone and physical cash in Lagos.

Olaoluwa is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 24, 2019 at Moja, Itunagan Community in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to steal Tecno Spark 2 handset valued at N38,000 with physical cash of N7,000 property of one Bidemi Alfred,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate F.J Adefioye granted him N30,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

The surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till January 22, 2020 for mention.
