Motorboy docked for car battery theft at Kirikiri

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 24-year-old motorboy, Abbey Afolabi, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a car battery at Kirikiri Police Station.

Afolabi is facing a lone count charge bordering on stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 8, 2018 at about 6pm at Kirikiri Police Station, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.

“The defendant stole a car battery valued at N45,000 property of one Akeem Lukuman,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till October 2, 2018 for mention.
