A 32-year-old motorboy, Friday Sylvester was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two heavy-duty batteries and five stanza trailer tyres in Apapa.

Sylvester is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Perezi Donjor, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 12, 2019 at Wharf Gate, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal two heavy duty batteries and five stanza trailer tyres. All valued at N700,000 property of Amazon Haulage Oil and Gas Limited,” Donjor said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The sureties must be gainfully employed and furnish the court with six months bank statement and proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till April 24, 2019 for mention.
