The Ports Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (PCID) on Wednesday arraigned a 23-year-old motorboy, Chigemezu Blessing Ezekwe, before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly forging a Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) staff identity card.
Ezekwe is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and forgery.
The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in September 2018 at White Sand, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to forge Nigerian Ports Authority staff identity card no 09075 with the name Chigemezu Blessing Ezekwe which was used by him to access the NPA, Apapa,” Balogun said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 365(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate O. A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with six months bank statements and proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till January 14, 2019 for trial.
