The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has postponed its Gala and Award Night, originally set for Friday, November 15, 2024, in Abuja, to honor the memory of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
In a statement signed by the National Customs Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the NCS explained that this decision allows the Service to pay tribute to a leader whose contributions resonate deeply across all security agencies and beyond.
The statement reads: “The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) wishes to announce the postponement of its Gala and Award Night, initially scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, in Abuja. This decision is taken to align with the mood of the nation in mourning the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, whose legacy of service to our country remains in our hearts.”
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, extended heartfelt condolences to Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s family, colleagues, and the entire Nigerian Armed Forces, saying, “Lt. Gen. Lagbaja was a leader of immense dedication and sacrifice. His contributions to Nigeria’s security and inter-agency cooperation are immeasurable. We stand with the Nigerian Army, his family, and all Nigerians in honoring his memory and service.”
