In a significant move to boost morale and enhance operational efficiency, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the promotion of 1,419 junior officers.
This landmark decision was confirmed during the 10th Management meeting chaired by Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on November 29, 2024.
The comprehensive promotion list spans both General Duty and Support Staff, reflecting outstanding performance in the 2024 promotion exercise.
A total of 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers have been elevated from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC).
In addition, 4 General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers have advanced from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC). Furthermore, 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers have moved up from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI), while 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers have been promoted from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).

Abdullahi Maiwada, Chief Superintendent of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said CGC Adeniyi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly promoted officers, urging them to redouble their efforts in executing the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation.
Maiwada said the promotion list for senior officers is currently being processed and is awaiting approval by the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
