Nigerian Navy Seizes 2,880kg of Cannabis, Arrests Four Suspects

The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has intercepted and seized 72 bags of cannabis sativa, weighing 2,880 kilograms, and arrested four suspects, including two Ghanaians and one Beninese national.

According to Lt. Hussaini Ibrahim, Base Information Officer of NNS BEECROFT, the suspects were handed over to the Marine Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Commodore Rafiu Oladejo, Commander NNS BEECROFT, represented by Navy Captain Mutalib Raji, revealed that the seizure was made possible by credible intelligence received by NNS BEECROFT regarding suspicious activities around the Lekki Beach axis. This led to the deployment of the Quick Response Team, which intercepted the consignments on August 25, 2024.

Among the arrested suspects are Godswill Zevor (Ghanaian), Monday Kpomeja (Ghanaian) and Elugbe Philip (Beninese).
