NIMASA Governing Board Pledges Support for Executive Management

The Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged to work with the Agency’s Executive Management to advance its mandate, following the Board’s inaugural meeting in Lagos.

Chairman of the Board, Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, said the Board would collaborate closely with the Agency to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s Blue Economy. He noted that the Agency’s management had signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which would serve as a set of Key Performance Indicators to assess progress. Abubakar stated that the Board would work with management to ensure the implementation of initiatives that shape the Agency’s policy direction.

NIMASA Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Dayo Mobereola, welcomed the Board members and reaffirmed the Agency’s focus on promoting and regulating shipping, maritime safety, security, and marine environmental protection in Nigeria. He said that the Board’s support would enhance the Agency’s capacity to implement projects aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.

Mobereola added that the Executive Management would maintain collaboration with the Board and stakeholders to encourage investment, improve maritime infrastructure, and develop human capacity within the sector.
