A 38-year-old truck driver, Daniel Umenger, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing the breach of peace and stealing vehicle parts in Lagos.
Umenger is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in October 2018 at Aspamda Market, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.
“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by refusing to deliver the motor spare parts to the Young Shall Grow Motor Park, Maza-Maza, Lagos having received same instruction from one Chika Nnoruka instead he diverted to Chisco Transport Park,” Obongha said.
The prosecutor added that the defendant stole 30 pieces of fender truck, 50 pieces of motor pump nipple, 10 pieces of motor gear stop ring valued at N800,000 property of one Chika Nnoruka.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 168(d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate, K.A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be gainfully employed and one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant with proof.
She adjourned the case till November 20, 2018 for mention.
