Qatar’s Energy Minister, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, says he expects synergy with Korea’s major shipbuilders in Doha’s quest to acquire 60 new natural gas (LNG) carriers, South Korea’s presidential office said.
According to a statement released by South Korea’s presidential office on Monday, Al-Kaabi stated this during a bilateral summit between both countries.
Speaking during a luncheon after the summit, the Chief Executive Officer, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co, Sung-Leep Jung, said most of the LNG carriers owned by Qatar were built by Korea’s top three shipbuilders and hoped that South Korea would be considered a primary option for building new LNG carriers for Qatar.
