Security officer docked for allegedly stealing phone at APM Terminals

A 25-year-old security officer, Omoluwabi Cyril, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one Tecno phone at APM Terminals Apapa.

Cyril is facing a lone count charge of stealing.

The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 8, 2018 at about 12:15am at Customary first flow, APM Terminals, Apapa Port, Lagos. 

“The defendant stole one Tecno stole handset K7 valued at N35,000 property of one Olijo Chukwudi Kizito,” Balogun said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 (5)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till October 3, 2018 for mention.
