Sifax Chairman, Afolabi, honoured with doctorate degree

The Group Executive Vice- Chairman of Sifax Group, Barr. Taiwo Afolabi, has been awarded a professional doctorate degree in port and terminal management by the Port and Terminal Management Academy.
Afolabi was given the award on June 18,  by the management of the academy at the company’s headquarters in Lagos.
The Executive Director, Administration and Human Resources of the group, Dr Phil Ofulue, received the award on behalf of the chairman.
Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar of the academy, Babatunde Samuel, said the academy honoured Afolabi because of the achievement of the organisation in the maritime sector.
He said, “We deemed it fit to honour him with this professional award because of his record of success in the maritime industry.
“We are happy that Sifax Group has also been doing well in the airport, oil and gas and they have been able to impact positively on the economy of the country.”
Acknowledging  receipt of the award, Afolabi expressed joy and described  the award as one of the few credible awards in the industry.

He said, “On behalf of the entire Sifax Group, the Group Executive Vice- Chairman, the management and staff, we want to tell you that we gladly receive your honuor and we receive only  genuine honours and with credibility, of which  this is one,” he said.
The Group VC also commended the academy for its foresight and commitment to training people in the maritime industry.
“We appreciate your steadfastness and good focus in your chosen area of endeavour, which has gone to a very large extent in galvanizing and setting up the tempo of activities, awareness, healthy rivalry and excellence in the maritime industry.
“Everybody appreciate your effort and  in Sifax we see your academy as a partner in progress.
“We appreciate the fact that among equals, other terminal operators, you love us for a reason best known to you.
” Apart from our excellent outing and our contribution to the maritime industry, you have some other reasons you chose us,” Afolabi said.
