Sirika opens discussion with Emirates to return to Abuja

Emirates Airlines

The Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has opened discussions with Emirates Airlines to return to Abuja.  Emirates, one of the biggest foreign airlines operating in Nigeria, had stopped its flight operations to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, at the end of October 2016 following the airline’s inability to buy forex and remit its sales.

The airline had also cited the bad runway at the Abuja airport and scarcity of aviation fuel as other reasons for pulling out of Abuja.

But Sirika said on his twitter handle @hadisirika: “Met with the Vice President Aerpolitical and Industry Affairs of Emirates to cause them to return to Abuja as we open.”

The minister also said Emirates had “showed positive sign they will comeback.”
